Graeme C. Bautista, a freshman BSE-Mathematics major at Cagayan State University–Sanchez Mira (CSU-SM), secured 4th place at the Philippine Statistics Quiz Provincial Elimination on October 28, 2024, held at Pulsar Hotel Premiere Suites, Tuguegarao City.

Competing against 30 first-year students from 10 colleges across the province, Bautista scored 29 points, earning her a spot in the upcoming regional competition where only the top five scorers advanced.

Meanwhile, two other CSU-SM freshmen BSE-Math students also placed in the top 10, with Jona V. Lorenzo taking 6th place with 27 points while Prince Nheil Simund C. Quina placed 9th with 23 points. Their scores were based on cumulative results from three rounds of the competition.

Despite limited time to review, Bautista expressed surprise and gratitude for her qualification to the regional level. Mrs. Maiden Acas, coach of the CSU-SM participants, also shared her pride in the students’ achievements, noting that they have represented CSU-SM well, opening doors to further opportunities.

This annual nationwide quiz challenges first-year students on their knowledge of statistics, with participants competing individually.
