Twenty-five faculty members from our campus participated in the 3rd International Conference on Futures Thinking towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) held via the Zoom platform on December 22, 2023. In collaboration with esteemed institutions such as Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia; Unitar International University, Malaysia; Universiti Teknologi Malaysia; Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera UTARA, Indonesia; Universitas Mahasaraswati Denpasar, Indonesia; Yuvakshetra Institute of Management Studies, India; National Taiwan Ocean University, Taiwan; National Chung Hsing University, Taiwan; Philippine Futures Thinking Society; Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Cagayan Chapter; and Philippine Association of Medical Technologists, Cagayan Chapter, Cagayan State University hosted the event.
The conference, initiated by University President Urdujah G. Alvarado in December 2021, marks the third consecutive year that CSU has hosted this international gathering. Distinguished professors, including Dr. Lizan Perante-Calina (PhilFutures), Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohd. Fadhil bin Md Din (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia), Dr. Fr. Augustine Thomas Pamplany (Yuvakshetra Institute of Management Studies, India), and Prof. Dr. Rozainun Binti Ab Aziz (UNITAR International University, Malaysia), served as resource speakers, covering key themes such as governance, sustainability engagement, youth leadership, and harnessing technology for Society 6.0.
On December 20 to 22, 2023, another four faculty members from the College of Information and Computing Sciences, Dr. Manny S. Alipio, Dr. Freddie P. Masuli, Mrs. Lourdes M. Padirayon and Mr. Sonny M. Boy Sasis, participated in the 3-day ASEAN Conference on Digital Jobs hosted by the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT). The conference, themed "Fostering Collaboration for Digital Jobs in the ASEAN Region," encompassed various plenary sessions highlighting DICT’s initiatives, the social and economic benefits of digital jobs, and country reports on digital jobs in Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Additionally, a workshop activity focused on Philippine digital job assessment and mapping took place during the event.
Throughout the conference, international speakers from Cambodia, Brunei, and Thailand shared insights into the digital transformations in their respective countries. Meanwhile, local speakers from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and DICT provided a comprehensive overview of the digital landscape in the Philippines.
