As part of its commitment to sustainable development along environmental protection and to promote the niche extension program of the campus, the Cagayan State University Sanchez Mira Alumni Association initiated a coconut growing project at Barangay Dacal Council and Dacal-Pukel Elementary School not only to instill the essential benefits of planting coconut which is the tree of life but also to provide the necessary skills of coconut growing to the citizens of all ages elementary to adult men and women including out of school youth, and barangay officials in the community last June 16, 2023 .
Said activity was made possible in collaboration with the Office of the International Partnerships and Resource Mobilization headed by Prof. Dr. Shella B. Cacatian who is also the Program leader of the Extension along Coco- Food and Non- food Enhancement Training of the College of Teacher Education and the Alumni Relations and Placement Services office Campus Coordinator Dr. Janelyn I. Agbayani . All these endeavors were made possible with the leadership of the Campus Executive Officer, Dr. Rodel Francisco T. Alegado and the Dean of the College of Teacher Education where both designated officials belong as mainstay faculty members. Coconut seedlings were donated by the CSUSMAA led by the president, Mrs. Ardeth D. Oamil.
