Quezon City, Philippines — Cagayan State University (CSU), led by University President Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez, participated in the Ceremonial Signing of the Partnership Agreement between the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) and its project partners for the Massive Coconut Planting Program (MCPP) on October 22, 2025, held at Sequoia Hotel, Mother Ignacia Avenue, Quezon City.
Representing CSU alongside Pres. Ibañez was Dr. Rodel Francisco T. Alegado, Campus Executive of Officer of CSU-Sanchez Mira, who jointly attended the event to formalize the University’s collaboration with PCA.
During the ceremony, CSU-SM successfully secured over ₱13 million in funding (₱13,449,150.00) for a Coconut Seedlings Project under the national coconut industry development initiative.
The ceremonial signing, presided over by PCA Administrator Dr. Dexter R. Buted, was attended by key government officials including Department of Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr., Senator Francis Nepomuceno Pangilinan, and Commission on Higher Education Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis.
The initiative supports the national goal of planting 100 million coconut palms by 2028, as part of the government’s drive to rejuvenate and expand coconut production areas, strengthen local livelihoods, and promote agricultural sustainability.
CSU’s inclusion in the program affirms its commitment to agricultural innovation and regional development through active engagement in national programs for sustainable farming and agribusiness advancement.
