NSTP Studes Undergoes Symposium on Security Awareness

In partnership with the 201st (GAG) Community Defense Center, 2RCDG, RESCOM, PA National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, Philippine National Police, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the National Service Training Program (NSTP) students of Cagayan State University – Sanchez Mira underwent Security Awareness Symposium at the old gymnasium on October 7.

With the purpose of providing additional information and ideas on how to avoid crimes and to lead them on the right path, the said event focused on giving the attendees lectures about the important details of topics including the effects of drugs, cybercrimes, and importations.
Lecturing about cybercrimes, PLT Lanie M. Babate, Chief Digital Forensic Section, discussed the Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, an act defining cybercrime, providing for the prevention, investigation, suppression, and the imposition of penalties therefore and for other purposes.

As for the second lecturer, Agent Ma. Editha R. Bunagan, Investigator Agent 5-PDEA Batanes Provincial Office, emphasized that "drugs are any substance other than food or water that is intended to be taken or administered to alter the recipient's physical, mental, or emotional state." She also explained that any case that involves the deeds with drugs is under R.A. No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Further, Agent Maynard B. Agleham, Investigator Agent 1-PDEA Batanes Provincial Office, explained about importation which is under Section 4 of R.A. No. 9165.

Aside from the students, present also during the symposium were Dr. Rodel Francisco T. Alegado, campus executive officer; Dr. Jose Sherief Panelo, College of Criminal Justice Education dean; Mr. Valentin Apostol, NSTP coordinator; Mr. Chris Ian Rodriguez, ROTC coordinator; as well as some faculty and staff of the campus.
