CSU-SANCHEZ MIRA BREAKS GROUND FOR ₱42-MILLION LEARNING HUB

Cagayan State University (CSU) marked a significant milestone with the groundbreaking and cornerstone-laying ceremony for its ₱42-million Campus Learning Resource and Information Center (CLRIC) at its Sanchez Mira Campus on April 30, 2025.
University and local officials gathered for the event, spearheaded by Prof. Dr. Mariden V. Cauilan, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Engr. Theresa B. Dimalanta, Vice President for Administration and Finance, who ably represented the University President, Prof. Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez, ASEAN Engr. They were joined by benefactors Congressman Hon. Joseph “Jojo” Lara, a CSU Board of Regents member, and Dr. Zarah Rose de Guzman Lara, with Rev. Fr. Edbelwin Jiah Manda officiating the blessing of the site.

Also present were the very supportive Campus Executive Officers from other CSU campuses: Atty. Carla Marie L. Sumigad of Andrews Campus, Prof. Engr. Roger P. Rumpon of Carig Campus, Prof. Dr. Hitler C. Dangatan of Piat Campus, and Prof. Dr. Engr. Ma. Haidee A. Mabborang of Solana-Lara Campus.

Prof. Dr. Rodel Francisco T. Alegado, Campus Executive Officer, emphasized the development's significance, calling the facility “a remarkable and outstanding vestige for the advancement of Cagayan State University.” He expressed gratitude to the Laras, stating, “Gifted to us and substantially initiated by our beloved Congressman... and his most loved wife, Doc Zarah Rose de Guzman Lara. From our hearts, we say thank you.”

Dr. Zarah Lara underscored the couple’s unwavering support for education, stating, “The students, we hold them in high esteem… they are not only our children; they are future leaders. That’s why Congressman Jojo and I are here—not just to witness your dreams, but to work with you in realizing them.”

In his message, Congressman Lara noted, “Dreams do come true, not only in the third district, but also in the CSU family… What we started in CSU, we will finish. This is not just a building—it is an inspiration for our teachers to work better and for our students to study harder.”

Dr. Cauilan conveyed the university’s appreciation, recognizing the CLRIC as part of a broader infrastructure push across CSU campuses, “This project exemplifies our vision for academic excellence and inclusive development.”

The construction of the CLRIC is set to reinforce CSU Sanchez Mira’s role as a hub for higher learning, benefiting future generations of learners and educators alike.
