Cagayan State University-Sanchez Mira (CSU-SM) officially inaugurated its newly constructed concrete access road leading to the campus exit gate through a blessing and ceremonial ribbon-cutting held today, July 20, 2026.
The new infrastructure aims to improve traffic flow within the campus by providing a safer and more efficient exit route for students, employees, and visitors.
The event was graced by University President Prof. Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez, ASEAN Engineer, CESE, together with Board of Regents – Private Sector Representatives Hon. Noel T. Verdidiano II and Hon. Joselito K. Luna. Also in attendance were Prof. Dr. Rodel Francisco T. Alegado, Campus Executive Officer of CSU-Sanchez Mira; Dr. Policarpio Mabborang Jr., ASEAN Engineer, Campus Executive Officer of CSU-Aparri; Dr. Florentina Dumlao, University Counsel; Ms. Mona V. Guzman, University Accountant; Engr. Anderson G. Gonzales, Ph.D., MSCE, University Director for Research and Development; Atty. Dominic Barles, Assistant to the Board Secretary; university and campus officials, faculty members, staff, students, and other guests.
In his welcome remarks and project overview, Prof. Dr. Rodel Francisco T. Alegado emphasized that the project was designed to decongest traffic and ensure a smoother and safer flow of vehicles exiting the university grounds.
“This project reflects our commitment to continuously improve our campus facilities, ensuring convenience, safety, and a better environment for our students, employees, and stakeholders,” he said.
Delivering the keynote message, University President Prof. Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez highlighted the University’s remarkable progress and expressed optimism for its continued growth.
“2024 may be a good year, 2025 may be a better year, but this 2026 is the best year, and hopefully 2027 will be better than this year.”
He also acknowledged the long-standing vision behind the project and commended the leadership of the campus.
Meanwhile, LGU-Sanchez Mira Vice Mayor Dr. Connie Marie O. Sacramed reaffirmed the local government’s support for the University’s continued development and congratulated the campus on another milestone.
The ceremony culminated in the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, led by the University President together with the members of the Board of Regents, university officials, and distinguished guests. This was immediately followed by the blessing of the new concrete access road, officiated by Rev. Fr. Kenn Jervic Cajilig, SVD, symbolizing the University’s gratitude and prayer for the continued success of its infrastructure development initiatives.
