To lead efforts in enhancing institutional performance and global competitiveness, Cagayan State University–Sanchez Mira (CSU-SM) convened a seminar-workshop on May 9, 2025, at the CSU-SM Conference Hall, focusing on global ranking systems including WURI, Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, QS Rankings, the Philippine Quality Award (PQA), and UI GreenMetric.
The event, attended by campus administrators, faculty, and staff, focused on enhancing understanding of international and national quality assurance metrics. It aimed to equip participants with the essential knowledge and tools to support strategic institutional alignment, fostering a shared commitment to continuous improvement and academic excellence.
Furthermore, the seminar-workshop was honored by the presence and support of Dr. Rodel Francisco T. Alegado, Campus Executive Officer, and Dr. Marie Claudette M. Calanoga, University Director for Quality Assurance.
Meanwhile, Dr. Giged T. Battung, University Focal Person for the THE Impact Rankings, led discussions on sustainability and societal impact metrics measured by Times Higher Education. Dr. Ronnie E. Pasigui, University Focal Person for WURI and QS Rankings, shared strategic perspectives on innovation-driven rankings and enhancing global academic reputation. Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof. Rio Averil C. Pamittan, the University’s PQA and UI GreenMetric Focal Person, provided valuable input on national excellence frameworks and advancing sustainable campus development.
Participants explored the importance of global university rankings as more than just measures of prestige, recognizing them as essential tools for assessing institutional performance, setting strategic priorities, identifying performance gaps, and promoting evidence-based planning to support quality assurance and meaningful institutional growth.
