CSU-Sanchez Mira proudly celebrates the achievement of Freddie Padua Masuli, who won the First Prize at the 75th Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature (2025)—the most prestigious literary award in the Philippines.
In his very first participation in the Palanca Awards, Dr. Masuli earned the highest recognition in the Short Story – Ilokano category for his work entitled “Ni Inang Cion ken ti Panagur-urayna.” This remarkable achievement highlights the depth and richness of Ilokano literature.
A former President of GUMIL-Cagayan and a current Member of the Board of Directors of GUMIL Filipinas, Dr. Masuli continues to champion writing in the Ilokano language and the preservation and promotion of local culture.
Once again, warmest congratulations, Dr. Masuli! May you continue to inspire aspiring Ilokano writers and help ensure the enduring vitality of our local culture for generations to come.
