CSU-SANCHEZ MIRA WELCOMES 1016 FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS IN GRAND SALUBONG 2026

Cagayan State University–Sanchez Mira Campus officially welcomed 1,016 first-year students during the Grand Salubong 2026 held on June 22, 2026, at the campus grounds.

With the theme, "Ride the Wave: A Grand Salubong 2026," the event served as a vibrant and heartfelt welcome for new students as they embarked on their academic journey at the university. It also marked the opening of another academic year, with a total of 3,638 officially enrolled students across the campus' various academic programs.

A highlight of the program was the inspirational message of Prof. Rodel Francisco T. Alegado, Ph.D., Campus Executive Officer, who encouraged students to embrace their university life with courage, perseverance, and a strong belief in the transformative power of education.

Quoting the philosopher Socrates, CEO Alegado reminded the freshmen that "Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel," emphasizing that the university aims to ignite curiosity, creativity, and purpose among its students. He also encouraged them to view challenges as opportunities for growth, stressing that excellence comes from the courage to keep improving.

The event also featured the presentation of the campus officials, faculty members, administrative staff, Campus Student Council officers, and advisers.

To make the welcome celebration more engaging and memorable, the Campus Student Council (CSC) prepared exciting Bring Me Games with prizes to encourage participation and camaraderie among freshmen. The activity also featured the much-anticipated Search for Mr. and Miss Freshies 2026, where selected freshmen showcased their confidence, personality, and school spirit.

Grand Salubong 2026 not only welcomed new students but also strengthened the spirit of belonging, unity, and pride among CSUans as they prepared to begin another meaningful and transformative academic year.
