CSU-SM CTED's COCOLEGACY RANKS 11TH IN WURI 2026

The Cagayan State University – Sanchez Mira Campus, through its College of Teacher Education, has once again earned international recognition after its program entry titled, “CocoLegacy: Sustaining Cultural Values and Community Identity through Teacher Education, Research, and Engagement,” ranked 11th out of 429 entries in the 2026 World University Rankings for Innovation.

The recognition marks the second-highest ranked entry in the university and the only entry from the Sanchez Mira Campus that landed in the Top 100 of WURI. This achievement reflects CSU-SM CTED’s continuing commitment to innovation, cultural preservation, research, extension, and meaningful community engagement.

The CocoLegacy program is anchored on its extension initiative, “Small-Scale Coco Food and Non-Food Enterprises for Coconut Farmers in Sanchez Mira,” which aims to empower local coconut farmers by promoting sustainable livelihood opportunities while preserving cultural identity and strengthening values-based teacher education.
The WURI entry was written and developed by Dr. Shella B. Cacatian, Dr. Verlino D. Baddu, Dr. Janelyn I. Agbayani, Dr. Gleann R. Corpuz, Dr. John Lester T. Tabian, and Mrs. Ellaine Cheer C. Pacris.

This milestone was achieved through the invaluable guidance and technical expertise of Dr. Ronald L. Cachero, WURI Focal Person, whose mentorship and leadership greatly contributed to the successful preparation of the university’s WURI entries. The accomplishment was further strengthened by the steadfast support and encouragement of Dr. Rodel Francisco T. Alegado, Campus Executive Officer, whose commitment to advancing innovation, research, and extension initiatives continues to inspire the campus community toward excellence and global recognition.

Through CocoLegacy, Cagayan State University – Sanchez Mira Campus continues to demonstrate that teacher education can go beyond classroom instruction by empowering communities, preserving culture, and creating programs with lasting impact
